Dancing adrift...

So, there's been a lot of chatter lately about Disney's new production of Beauty and the Beast coming out soon (?). You know, the non-animated one with Emma Watson and that dude who was in the Hobbit, and Ian McKellan. That one.

There's been some fuss about the fact that the movie is going to include a gay character. *gasp!* Some people are ecstatic, others aren't super thrilled about the choices made, and some *ahem*bigots*ahem* are outright boycotting the movie. ANYhoo. I'm pretty sure every one of my followers on here at least have nothing against homosexual relationships, lol.

To get back to my point - Beauty and the Beast is my favorite [animated, classic] Disney movie. I'm not really sure how I feel about them 'remaking' it, but all the hubbub has been reminding me that there are some most excellent SPN/SPN RPF fics that have drawn inspiration from this great movie. I've listed the ones I know below. I highly recommend them all, so you should definitely read them, and show the authors (and one artist!) some love. And if you've got any similar recommendations, I'd love to hear of them!

Hi there, LJ! So, this is the first new season of Supernatural where I'm going to be on Live Journal for the full season! I'm excited to see how that effects the whole 'watching live' experience for me. Hopefully it will be good.

Anyhoo, those of you who follow me on twitter may already know this, but here's a brief run-down for those of you who don't know:

When I watch a brand new episode of Supernatural, I don't live tweet. Instead, I take notes. Hand-written notes. I then post those notes to twitter as a sort of live-tweet replacement, lol. Anyhoo, I figured this might be a good place to share too. I'd really love if they'd generate some discussion. Twitter usually moves too fast for tweeters to do much more than fave them or, if I'm lucky, give them a retweet. If I'm really lucky, someone (or even someONES) will actually read them XP Anyway, I'd love to hear your reactions to my reactions, or to talk with you about any of the points I bring up in my notes.

So yeah, without further ado... MY FAVORITE SHOW IS *BACK*, BABY, and it STILL KICKS ASS. So please, enjoy my thoughts/notes/reactions to Episode One, Season TWELVE, Supernatural's 'Keep Calm and Carry On'.

A quick notes on the notes: these will contain much swearing, possibly some spoilers (though they'll usually probably be fairly vague), lots of ♥s and squee, probably a fair amount of J2 & S/D objectifying, and the occasional, deeply regrettable spelling error. And sometimes illegible writing. Just fyi ;)

Tonight I managed to complete another chunk of art for my Big Bang project (about time, too. Yay!). However, before I finally got to the point of being productive, I did a few quick, fun pieces that I figured would be fun to share on here. Enjoy! :)

The first piece was just me playing around with colors and brushes; the second two were both quick tracings of photographs with a little color thrown in. They were fast and fun, and I'm happy with the results. Hoping to get much more work done on Big Bang this weekend, so hopefully these three pictures got the 'draw random stuff' itch out of my system for a bit ;)

This spn_heatwave definitely sounds awesome. A huge part of me wants to participate, while another part of me is like, "Run away! You're nowhere near good enough!" lol. But I do want to practice making art more (because how else does one improve??), so this is so very tempting. Sign ups go through June 1st; perhaps I'll see how spn_j2_bigbang and any other quicky_bangs go first, and then maybe I'll jump in to play? Regardless of if I take part or not, I'm very excited about this event. Check it out! :)

*yells out into the terrifying abyss* "HELLO, LIVE JOURNAL!"

I have no barely any idea how to act in here, so please bear with me. I probably won't be very active, because will probably be more active than I'd thought; LJ has been pretty damn welcoming so far :) I'm pretty happy with the set-up I've got going between twitter and AO3, but I kind of really wanted to try my hand at submitting some art for a Big Bang, so I had to make my account official in order to do that. I think that's the first logical step at least...

So anyway, here I am. All my profile info is straight from twitter (because it seemed like the most comfortable way to dip my toes into the big, scary LJ, by logging in from that account), so take it for what you will (I added a bit; guess I can step out of my twitter shell after all ;)). To update it a bit [more]: I love Supernatural; I am a fairly recent fan (I started watching on Netflix a few months before season 10 first aired), but I am neck-deep in fandom now and I love that, too.

As I mentioned, I'm also on AO3. Mainly, I spend my time there reading, but I also beta for a few friends (mainly non_tiembo_mala, gluedwithgold, and sometimes whispered_story - all amazing authors; definitely check them out if you don't already know them) and occasionally post fic of my own.

I also like to draw/paint/sketch/whatever, but I rarely do in the interest of doing those other things. But I like to take opportunities when I can to flex those skills, try to keep them from getting too rusty. (For an example, check out the drawing I did for non_tiembo_mala's "Upon A Painted Ocean", here. You should also definitely read the story, because it's SO GOOD.) Thus, my motivation for joining, like, officially joining, LJ - to (I hope, if all goes well) participate as an artist contributor in the 2016 Big Bang. I'm going to go sign up now, so wish me luck!! (I'm gonna need it!)
