Summary: The first children with the mutant gene, which gave people superhuman abilities, were born in the late 70s. Feared, abused and soon shunned by the general public, they gathered together in small groups and built camps on the outskirts of society.

Decades later, Jensen leads a small camp of mutants hidden in the mountains of Oregon. It's a peaceful, uneventful life—until Jensen finds a hurt young mutant in the woods outside of the camp. But unlike the rest of them, Jared wasn't born with the mutant gene. Kidnapped off the streets, he was experimented on, changed into a mutant by force and then left to die in the forest when his powers appeared to be dormant. Jensen takes Jared back to the camp, offers him a place to stay, to heal, and a home with them in the mountains. Jared quickly becomes a part of their little makeshift family and an even bigger part of Jensen's life.

But then they find another changed mutant and unwittingly lead the people responsible for what happened to Jared right to their camp. And it turns out Jared might be the one who can save them in the end.

Day 21 - "First Kiss"
This drawing is outside of the cut because not only is it technically fanart, but it's fanart that comes with a fic rec! The fic this was inspired by (and I say 'inspired' because, if it was directly done for the fic, I would have actually been looking at the fic when I drew/colored it and made sure the details actually *matched* the fic (they don't, not exactly, lol)) is by the amazing __tiana__, and I enjoy reading it often. So yeah. This image of bartender/drummer!Jensen and mechanic/artist!Jared is from the first scene of "Don't Go Mistaking Paradise" (which I just re-read last night, and you definitely should go [re]read now too, if you're at all a fan of J2 AU fic :)). And I hope you like my art, too, lol XD

It all started with a journal... a wedding present from someone who doesn't really know me that well, and therefore thought that I would use a "My Favorite Moment of the Day" journal [for its intended purpose]. Heh. Yeah, no. Never let it be said that I'm not a bit of an ass, lol.



Anyhoo, I've decided to participate in Inktober! I post these daily to my twitter, but I've decided to post weekly summaries here, too, as suggested by the lovely amberdreams, who is also creating some fantastic drawings for this month-long 'challenge'. There's a ton of awesome art coming out of this, and I hope you enjoy my small contribution! :)
