12.01 Keep Calm and Carry On - EPISODE NOTES

Hi there, LJ! So, this is the first new season of Supernatural where I'm going to be on Live Journal for the full season! I'm excited to see how that effects the whole 'watching live' experience for me. Hopefully it will be good.

Anyhoo, those of you who follow me on twitter may already know this, but here's a brief run-down for those of you who don't know:

When I watch a brand new episode of Supernatural, I don't live tweet. Instead, I take notes. Hand-written notes. I then post those notes to twitter as a sort of live-tweet replacement, lol. Anyhoo, I figured this might be a good place to share too. I'd really love if they'd generate some discussion. Twitter usually moves too fast for tweeters to do much more than fave them or, if I'm lucky, give them a retweet. If I'm really lucky, someone (or even someONES) will actually read them XP Anyway, I'd love to hear your reactions to my reactions, or to talk with you about any of the points I bring up in my notes.

So yeah, without further ado... MY FAVORITE SHOW IS *BACK*, BABY, and it STILL KICKS ASS. So please, enjoy my thoughts/notes/reactions to Episode One, Season TWELVE, Supernatural's 'Keep Calm and Carry On'.

A quick notes on the notes: these will contain much swearing, possibly some spoilers (though they'll usually probably be fairly vague), lots of ♥s and squee, probably a fair amount of J2 & S/D objectifying, and the occasional, deeply regrettable spelling error. And sometimes illegible writing. Just fyi ;)







Some of these may be hard to follow - for example, that 'LMAO OMFG bahahahahahahha' on the second page is from the moment when Dean realized his mom was thinking about having had sex in the back seat of the Impala - but I hope you enjoyed them anyway. Guh. I LOVED THIS EPISODE AND I'M SO HAPPY WITH HOW AMAZING THIS SHOW STILL IS AFTER SO MANY YEARS. I CANNOT WAIT FOR NEXT THURSDAY!!!

Unusual way of recording your reactions--I'm smiling at the inventiveness of this fandom!

I am loving everybody in this barshow tonight. I don't think anybody hit a false note. How badass is Sam F. Winchester? And who did he get it from? MOM!

haha! Well, it's the best way I've found to get my thoughts down in the moment while still being able to pay as much attention as possible to what's happening onscreen. (I CANNOT use my phone to 'type' aka Swype while trying to pay attention to something else. Both activities suffer, lol.)

I agree. I felt like every bit of this episode was on point. Even the couple points of contention I had during the episode are starting to make sense as I think it over the next day. (Like my question about Cas' mojo has been a point of much confusion for me since last season, but I think I understand a bit more now. Those brass knuckles with the sigils on them explained a lot as to why that British torture lady was able to effectively take away whatever remaining angel powers he still has.)

This was an absolutely fantastic start to the season; it's pretty much everything I could have hoped for, and I'm so, so happy! Can't wait to see what else the SPN crew have in store for us!!

That back seat moment was hysterical! You just knew what they were each thinking. Mary: mmmm. Dean: ew!!!

Jensen's face when he and Mary ar hugging???? so sweet and heartbreaking. There was that little boy.

I laughed SO HARD. Sam and Jensen just KILLED everything about that. Amazing how much can be 'said' without a single word, isn't it? And SO COOL that after eleven years we STILL get just fantastic moments. I love love love it.

Jensen's face was *incredible* this episode. I mean, he's just so expressive and beautiful all the time, but damn if it didn't feel especially poignant in this ep. Every character was done SO WELL. GUH. LOVED IT.
