Tonight, the lovely [livejournal.com profile] amberdreams posted a *gorgeous* (and hella sexy & nsfw) piece of art that she created (intended for [livejournal.com profile] spn_heatwave). First, obviously, you should go check it out, because it really is awesome. Second, she included a bunch of progress shots that *I* thought were pretty neat to see. I always love seeing how other artists go about creating their works. Anyhoo, since I actually have them, I thought I'd post some WIP pictures from my own Heatwave submission, "Toes in the Sand". I hope you enjoy them! ^_^

The initial sketch, using a photo of Jensen at SDCC last year as a reference for his head. I used Corel Painter Essentials 5 for this whole piece.

Starting to add some color. Sometimes I like to keep swatches of common colors I'm using off to the side... and for some reason, I seem to like turning them into hearts while I work? lol

Here Dean is nearly fully colored, and I've sketched out the basics for the background. I will say it again and forever and always: LAYERS ARE MY FRIEND.

Now, with added freckles! And most of the sky and ocean. I really do enjoy drawing clouds and water for some reason, lol.

Then it was just a matter of coloring the sand and volleyball net, and voila! If you haven't seen it already, you can view the finished piece here. There's also a partner piece for it starring Sam at the beach here! Thanks for the time/attention/love/etc. - I hope you enjoyed! ;) ♥

Eeee in progress shots! I love 'em! And I keep forgetting to make my little palette of colours on the pic like that, it would be a lot easier than continually having to switch off layers so I can use the dropper to pick up a colour... LOL

I just realised I forgot the boys tattoos on my pic. DOH!

Now I'm off to admire your finished piece!

haha! I was wondering if your drawing was supposed to be J2, or if it was early season S&D. Could've gone either way. But it's nice to see the tattoos added to your gorgeous boys! Glad you enjoy seeing my progress too ♥
