If there was, a Grand Canyon...
They’d always said that they’d go,
Then one day, they did;
Red rocks, farting donkeys -
He was still just a kid.
Wrapped snug in his blanket,
He followed big brother down into the rift.
... he could fill it up, with the lies he’s told her...
He went once again,
On a road trip with friends,
But no matter how fun or normal,
It invariably ends.
The night his big brother broke in,
Under the pretense of raiding his fridge.
...but they don’t exist, those dreams he sold her...
The often talk about going back -
“Vacation,” they say;
Feels like they deserve it,
All the prices they pay.
But then big brother needs saving,
Or him, or the world; the same old shit.
...She’ll wake up and find, there is no Arizona.
They’d talked once of going,
They went once, with friends;
Then she burned on the ceiling,
One more life mean’lessly ends.
Now he rides with big brother,
And thinks on dead dreams as he drives the night shift.
